Description

Giant hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum) is an invasive alien plant. The sap causes serious irritation and photosensitivity. It is illegal under the 1981 Wildlife and Countryside Act to allow it to grow in the wild. A native of the Caucasus Mountains, it grows beside rivers and other watercourses.
